Composition: Atorvastatin calcium

Indication: Reduce LDL, cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides and to increase HDL-cholesterol in the treatment of hyperlipidemia including hypercholesterolaemias, and combined (mixed) hyperlipidemia (type IIAand Iib hyperlipoproteinemia), hypertriglyceridemia (type IV), and dysbetalipoproteinemia (type III). It can be effective as adjuvant therapy in patients with homozygous familial 

Dosage: The usual dose is 10mg to 20mg daily. An initial dose of 40mg daily may be used in patients who require a large reduction in LDL cholesterol. The large dose may be adjusted at intervals of 4 weeks up to a maximum of 80mg daily. Or as prescribed by the physician

Contra Indication: Atorvastatin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients

Precaution: Atorvastatin should not be given to patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistently raised serum aminotransferase concentrations and should be discontinued if the marked or persistent increase in serum-aminotransferase concentrations occurs. 

Drug interaction: Increased risk of myopathy, fabric acid derivatives, lipid-modifying doses of niacin or CYP450 3A4 inhibitors. Increased bioavailability with OATP1B1 indicators
