Composition:

• Telmisartan 

Indication:

• Used in the management of HTN. 

Dosage:

• Treatment of essential HTN: 40 mg once daily.

• Max 80 mg. CV prevention: 80 mg once daily, with or without food. 

Contra Indication:

• Hypersensitivity. 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Biliary obstructive disorders. Hepatic impairment.

• Primary aldosteronism. Children <18 yrs. 

Precaution:

• Patients with mild-moderate hepatic impairment. Renovascular HTN.

• Periodic monitoring of potassium and creatinine serum levels in patients with impaired renal function.

• Volume and/or sodium depletion should be corrected prior to initiation of therapy. Patients suffering from aortic/mitral stenosis, or obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance.

• Pregnancy and lactation. 

Drug interaction:

• Potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium-supplements, Lithium, NSAIDs, diuretics (thiazide or loop), other antihypertensive agents, corticosteroids. 

Preparation:

• Tab 40mg, 30's.

• Tab 80mg, 30's
